For the average lindy hop addict it may take weeks before the numbing excitement of a new routine dissipates. I guess I’m the cynical optimist willing to say in the glory of the moment that a routine was “aight” to me even if being labeled a hater follows. In this case, as I sat on the hard floor trying to focus over the screaming hype train of audience minions, my inner cynic was silenced by the end of this routine. After routinely re-watching this piece of choreography by Todd Yannacone and Ramona Staffeld I’ve come to the conclusion that this is one of my favorite pieces of lindy hop choreography – for now. Simple, complex, subtle and loud. But above all else, a timelessly balanced work worth studying. Respect.
